Ambient Light is a personal photo blog project. All of the images you see here were taken by me personally. Photography is a hobby of mine. I've been taking photos with SLRs for over 10 years. Only within the last four years or so have I switched to digital and been concentrating on photography as an art. The photos you see here are my favorites.
There is very little editing done to the images posted here. In most cases, they are usually unedited, or have only minor corrective editing, such as rotations, perspective corrections, level adjustments. If I'm feeling really adventurous, I may try some cropping or spot dodging/burning), however, I rarely do any creative editing on the photos.

Ambient light is a term used to describe the type of lighting of a photo or scene. A scene lit with Ambient Light uses light that is not changed by the photographer. This could be light from the sun, or existing fixed lighting, such as incandescent or fluorescent light, but not a flash or other lighting added by the photographer.
This is also known as existing light or available light.
It is the most common form of lighting used in amature, guerilla, street, landscape, and many other types of photography.
Ambient Light may also be used in conjunction with other forms of lighting, such as fill lighting, which fills in the shadows from the Ambient Light, or creates contrast or hilights on the subject.
Originally, this site was an updated-daily photo blog. This worked great for a about half a year, beginning July 2006.
However, photography is a hobby and not my day job. Since I can really only get out on weekends to shoot, I was not always able to get 7 great images each week, leaving gaps in the schedule. This happened more and more often as winter approached, and everything turned cold.
Starting January, 2007, instead of letting quality slide, I moved to a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule, and only posted when I had good images.
Since then, I've found that most of my photos are coming from a small number of shoots, not the "daily shooting" that I had hoped to fit into my schedule. The photos were being presented over a number of days, or even weeks. Starting April 2008, this site has changed into a photo gallery of sorts. This way, I can post photos when they occur.
